The Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 were introduced in September of this year, along with the iPhone 15 series. The smartwatches came pre-installed with watchOS 10, providing significant improvements over previous models, including a new double tap function that allows users to press their index finger and thumb together twice to take a call, reply to a message, and conduct other operations. The double tap feature is now available to Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 users, thanks to the release of the stable version of watchOS 10.1.

The Cupertino-based tech behemoth has announced the release of watchOS 10.1. Users of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 may now use the new double tap functionality, which allows you to perform various smartwatch functions and operations with one hand without touching the touchscreen, with this update. Simply tap the watch hand with your index finger and thumb.

Users may access Smart Stack from any watch face and scroll through the stack's widgets without touching the display. You may also answer and finish phone calls, set a timer or stopwatch, snooze alarms, and play or pause music, podcasts, and audiobooks. This capability is also available in the Compass program for switching to the Elevation view.

Aside from seeing a message, users may navigate through longer alerts with another double touch action, respond using dictation, and send a message using this easy two press functionality. Users may also use the Camera Remote function in the Camera App of any iPhone model to take a shot with a double touch.

On the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, you may utilize the double tap function to start or cancel automated workout reminders. It may also be used to carry out the principal action from alerts, such as reacting to an incoming message, snoozing reminders, and so on. The gesture is active whenever the display is on. Users of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 may also customize this function.

Although WatchOS 10.1 is now available for Apple Watch Series 4 and beyond, the double tap capability is only accessible on the company's most recent devices. The most recent watchOS upgrade necessitates an iPhone XS or later running iOS 17. Apple also mentions that the functionality will be activated by default on Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 models running watchOS 10.1, with no further configuration necessary. In the options, you may also disable the function.

The Apple Watch Series 9 is available in Midnight, Pink, (Product) Red, Starlight, and Silver color choices, with prices starting at Rs. 41,900 in India. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 costs Rs. 89,900 in India. It is available in Alpine Loop, Trail Loop, and Ocean band configurations. The S9 SiP chipset powers both smartwatches.
