Nokia Showcases 6G Sensing, Safer Railway Networks, and More at India Mobile Congress 2023

Nokia showcased many 6G and 5G technologies on Friday at the 2023 India Mobile Congress in New Delhi. At the annual telecom technology summit, the business demonstrated a radar-like sensing technology that employs 6G connection, a Rapid Rail NCRTC private wireless network, a 4G/LTE network on the Moon, and real-time extended reality multimedia technology, among other things. At its display, Nokia also demonstrated a metaverse-based intelligent factory management system based on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), extended reality (XR), blockchain, and decentralized technologies.


The business demonstrated a new 6G sensing technology that aims to provide users with "situational awareness" of their surroundings, such as the capacity to see what's around the corner or remotely interact with things without touching them. According to Nokia, the sensing technology respects user privacy, functions as a radar, and can detect people, objects, and their motions.


Nokia also exhibited a private wireless network for the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) Delhi to Meerut RRTS constructed in collaboration with the French multinational enterprise Alstom. According to the business, this is the first LTE/4.9G private wireless network in the world to handle European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 Signaling, allowing authorities to examine their position and movement information in real-time.


Nokia's Real-time eXtended Reality Multimedia (RXRM) software, which was demonstrated, is capable of increasing employee safety while increasing productivity and efficiency in the enterprise. It is aimed at providing 360-degree video and audio capturing for industrial and commercial customers.

 

Another device presented by the business is the SteadEband, which is a stabilized antenna capable of improving E-band link distance by up to 50% while avoiding concerns such as tower vibrations or materials shifting due to heat changes, both of which influence E-band performance.


Nokia's DeepField Defender technology aims to provide distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks using specialized network routers and DDoS mitigation systems while offering better scalability, granular controls, more reliable detection, and lower costs, according to a prepared statement.


Meanwhile, Nokia's metaverse-based intelligent factory management system was on display on Friday at the 2023 India Mobile Congress. It makes use of cutting-edge technologies that are still in development, such as AI and machine learning, XR, blockchain, and decentralized networks. According to the business, the intelligent factory management system aims to optimize industrial processes, making them more efficient and interactive while reducing mistakes and faults.
