JioSpaceFiber, the country's first satellite-based mega fiber Internet service, was exhibited on Friday at the 2023 India Mobile Congress. The mobile network service provider is preparing to deploy satellite Internet services in India, bringing Internet connectivity to locations where standard networks do not reach. JioSpaceFiber is projected to compete with competing service providers such as Bharti Enterprises' OneWeb, Amazon's Project Kuiper, and Elon Musk's Starlink in the nation.

Jio stated that its JioSpaceFiber satellite-based mega fibre Internet service has already linked four rural regions throughout India. Gir in Gujarat, Korba in Chattisgarh, Nabrangpur in Odisha, and ONGC-Jorhat in Assam have access to the new satellite service, probably for testing purposes. The firm has not yet specified when or how much its services would be available to clients in India.

The JioSpaceFiber satellite-based mega fiber Internet service, according to the telecom company, would rely on Luxembourg-based satellite telecommunications network provider Société Européenne des Satellites (SES). SES's O3b and new O3b mPOWER satellites will enable gigabit-level Internet connectivity via the network's medium earth orbit (MEO) satellites.

"Jio has provided broadband internet access to millions of Indian homes and businesses for the first time." "With JioSpaceFiber, we extend our reach to cover the millions who remain unconnected," Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani said in a prepared statement.

The business has not stated when JioSpaceFiber would be available in India, but the service will ultimately compete with services such as OneWeb (Bharti), Project Kuiper (Amazon), and Starlink (SpaceX). Jio will also profit from being one of the first carriers to deliver fiber-grade Internet services to subscribers in distant areas, adding to the country's existing 450 million clients.
