Meesho, an e-commerce platform, Crosses 500 million app downloads on Google Play and the App Store

According to mobile data analytics vendor Meesho, the world's "fastest shopping app" has crossed 500 million total downloads across Google Play and iOS App Store.


The business, originally known as App Annie, announced in a statement that it had reached the 500 million download milestone in six years.


According to data.ai, in 2022, more over half of Meesho app downloads (274 million) occurred.


"Indian e-commerce platform Meesho has emerged as the world's fastest shopping app to cross 500 million cumulative downloads across Google Play and iOS App Store combined, reaching this milestone in six years," according to data.ai.


According to data.ai, Meesho's Android app is the lightest e-commerce software in India on the Play Store, with a size of only 13.6 MB, making it suitable with low-end handsets.


"We are delighted to partner with them and provide them with the insights they need to continue to grow their business," said Lexi Sydow, Head of Insights at data.ai.


Megha Agarwal, Meesho's CXO for user growth, stated that India has 750-800 million individuals with smartphones and internet connectivity, which creates a big opportunity for the firm to start the next wave of e-commerce adoption in India.


"This milestone is a great validation of our User-First mantra, which helps us continuously spot and address customer pain points to deliver an immaculate online shopping experience," added Agarwal.


Meesho previously said that it will have 140 million yearly transactional customers on its network by 2022.
