According to game director Naoki Hamaguchi, the world of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will offer a "high degree of freedom," answering questions fans may have had about the second entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project, which picks up right after Cloud and his gang left the walls of Midgar, arriving at the quaint village of Kalm, home to miners. While his words do not explicitly indicate an open-world approach, we may expect wider places to explore as well as greater freedom in dealing with side material. Producer Yoshinori Kitase stated in a subsequent tweet that production on the game is 'progressing smoothly and according to plan,' implying that it will still be released this winter.

While Square Enix has yet to confirm the reported Final Fantasy VII 26th anniversary celebration, it might be disclosed during the next Summer Game Fest event, where the publisher is named as a significant partner. Of course, some last information about the high-octane action-packed last Fantasy XVI are expected ahead of its June 22 release exclusively on PS5. A PC version will be available soon, however optimisation may take longer than six months. Returning to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the creators are trying to finalise a release date, which producer Kitase indicated last year will be'released next winter,' implying a late 2023 or early 2024 release frame.

"Players will witness a chain of narrative developments that lie at the very heart of the Final Fantasy VII story while discovering each character's destiny," stated writer Kazushige Nojima in a separate tweet. The marketing merely indicates that there will be a plot with strands revealing each character's path. Producer Kitase stated in a press statement accompanying the launch of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth that the sequel is being built so that new players may join in without worrying about past background.

"Creating the middle installment of a trilogy presents its own challenges, but there are many classic second installments in the world of film that are defined by stunning story twists and deeper explorations of their characters." "Often, these second installments become fan favourites," he continued, intending to make Final Fantasy VII Rebirth more gripping than Final Fantasy VII Remake in 2020. The Remake project effectively reimagines the original 1997 PlayStation game for a new audience, dropping players into the dystopian cyberpunk city of Midgar and separating the chapters into three separate experiences. Yes, it's a trilogy, with development on the last installment already underway.

Cloud Strife, an ex-SOLDIER operative, joins a motley bunch of idealists named Avalanche to help destroy the Mako Reactor 1, whose bombing plunges the city into blazing turmoil and summons visions of a long-dead adversary. Instead of the original's turn-based fighting system, Final Fantasy VII Remake has a real-time battle system that allows you to swap between party members/characters on the fly. Part one of the trilogy was published on the PS4 in 2020, followed by the PC and PS5 the following year. However, the aforementioned sequel FF7 Rebirth will not be released on the PS4 from the previous generation.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is planned to be released on the PS5 this winter, according to the current production timeline.
